Final Press-Release from June 22, Year 2007 The next, the third in a row Baku International Jazz Festival was held from the 7th of June 2007 to the 14th. As in the past years the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Youth and Sport of Azerbaijan, Friends of Azerbaijan Culture Foundation and Baku Jazz Center were the organizers of the Festival. The main sponsor of the Festival – a telecommunication company AzEuroTel. More than 20 concerts of Bakunian musicians and of the Festival guests were hosted on 4 concert stages of the capital of Azerbaijan the Baku city. Based on the tradition each day of the program of the Festival was completed by a jam session. Especially for the Festival the Jazz Center was repaired and new sound-magnifying equipment of the Meyer Sound firm had been installed. More than 10, 000 of Bakunian and the guests of our city attended the Festival events. Within the frame of the Festival the first concerts for the public were hosted by the Green Theatre after its opening after the restoration. The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev rendered a colossal support for the Festival. The Festival was in the center of attention of the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. A. Garayev.
The jazz holiday, which already became traditional, was marked with participation of the great Azerbaijani jazz musician and composer Vagif Mustafazadeh’s daughter – Aziza. She did not only perform with a planned concert at the Opera and Ballet Theatre, but also for the first time in her practice she took part in the final gala-concert of the Festival in the open air which was not scheduled in her program. The organizing committee of the Festival thanks the Friends of Azerbaijan Culture Foundation for financial support in the organization of Aziza Mustafazadeh’s concert.
Some problems occurred during the Festival and they were successfully resolved by the Organizing Committee of the Festival and by cooperating with it agencies. Actually it was related to moving concerts from the Green Theatre to Philharmonic.
The record number of mass-media representatives – more than a 100 people - was accredited at the Festival. And the jam sessions of the Festival were fully recorded by the Azerbaijani Television. A 30 minutes diary of the Festival was shown on TV each day. The Organizing Committee of the Festival expresses its gratitude to all those personnel of AzTV who had been with us throughout these days. We would also like to especially underscore benevolent and unbiased coverage of the Festival in the press.
The Organizing Committee of the Festival especially marks self-sacrificing work of the technical personnel of the Festival and the volunteers who bore on the shoulders the main work.
