Shahin Novrasli is a young pianist with great musical potential. In a short period he has studied the essentials of jazz and its many colours and already gained the respect of professionals. He was born on 10 February 1977 and from the age of 3 he showed an interest in music - his parents noticed his ability and, at the age of 5, took him to a piano class at music school. He was soon playing in concerts and caught the attention of teachers and audience. When 11 years old, he played in a concert with the Symphony Orchestra led by Faig Mustafayev at the Azerbaijan State Philharmonia c-dur Azer Rzayev. His talent was indisputable and, at the insistence of his teachers, he went to continue his musical education at the Bul-Bul School of Music.
During his education, Shahin applied himself seriously to the study of classical music. He showed early talent in playing the works of Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin and Rakhmaninov. He was winner of the competition, "Young Pianist" and played with great success in many other competitions and festivals. In 1995 he performed the 2nd Concerto of Rakhmaninov, receiving the highest marks from the jury. He was attracted to jazz from an early age, particularly to the possibilities presented by improvisation. Of course, when talking of jazz, Azerbaijani people think of the jazz-mugham world of the great improviser, Vagif Mustafa-zadeh. His music and virtuoso playing were examples to Shahin Novrasli, too.
In 1996 he entered the Uzeir Hajibeyov Musical Academy. In 2000 he graduated successfully and began to study jazz seriously, especially the compositions of Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea and Bill Evans. In 1999 he wrote his own compositions "Sevda Shalalesi" and "1001 Nights"; jazz interpretations of folk songs.
During these years Shain Novrasli recorded two albums and performed in USA, Italy, Turkey, Russia. Shain Novrasli is a participant of all Baku jazz festivals of last years.
